Spurs scout Bakan and Mourinho impressed with Spurs

TRANSFER TALK

Tottenham Hotspur are taking a keen interest in 16-year-old (17 next January) relegated Gaziantepspor midfielder Serkan Bakan suggests his agent.

The Tutkish Under-16 international (has has 3 caps, scoring 1 goal) attacking midfielder is also a target for Manchester United and is under contract until 2018. He became the youngest ever scorer in the Turkish Super Lig when he scored in a 4-2 defeat to Antalyaspor.

His agent, Ibrahim Polat, confirmed our interest to ESPN.

“Manchester United and Tottenham have been scouting Bakan. Several clubs from Germany have also been keeping tabs. Serkan is a special talent, so it is natural for there to be a lot of interest.”

Jose Mourinho, unlike some of our own fans, feels Tottenham are title contenders next season because we have made some of the best transfer moves of any club in the window, we have kept all the players we want to keep. That tells you how highly other clubs rate our players and clearly feels we are having having a wonderful transfer window.

“I don’t think we are big candidates for the title but we are [candidates]. Everybody speaks about the dimension of the investment at Man City [so far just below £220m] but there is another team that I feel the dimension of their investment is also phenomenal – Tottenham. Until now they spent zero pounds, right? They keep everybody they want to keep. They keep Dele Alli, [Harry]Kane and [Toby]Alderweireld, they keep Eric Dier, they keep everyone they want to keep.
“They sold Kyle Walker I think because they wanted to sell. And probably because they think Trippier is as good as Walker. And he’s younger than Walker. Chelsea are champions and they buy now. We are halfway through the market and they buy [Antonio]Rüdiger, [Tiemoué]Bakayoko and [Álvaro]Morata. So every club makes different kinds of investments but all of them are investing a lot to win the title.”

With time to go until it closes at the end of August, we can afford to wait for prices to fall into line, at the moment they are all inflated when we and other Premier League clubs show an interest.
