Barcelona agree terms with £36.69m Jean Michaël Seri

TRANSFER TALK

Ivorian central midfielder, Jean Michaël Seri will get his wish and sign for the club he has been holding out for, Spanish giants Barcelona. The Dutch press are this morning reporting that Barcelona will pay Nice his £36.69 million (€40m - AUS$59.33m - US$47.04m) release clause.

Arrangements were made with his agent brother on Thursday and terms for a 5-year contract were agreed for the 26-year-old (27 next July) Tottenham target. Before we hear Spurs fans shouting we should have signed him earlier, he made it clear earlier in the window he wanted to join Barcelona and has been waiting to see if that move comes to fruition, before committing to any other move.

It is an example of why some transfer don't happen, simply throwing more money at a deal makes no difference when you know Barcelona are interested and want to sign you.

The Spanish have now signed two midfielders and are rather overstocked which may give the opportunity to sign any unsettled players who want more game time that they are likely to get, like  25-year-old (26 next February) Sergi Roberto.
