Lyon website suggest only £9.12m bid for Spurs target Pape Diop

TRANSFER TALK

An article needed on former Spanish Under-19 international, 20-year-old (21 in August) Pape Cheikh Diop Gueye who plays for Celta de Vigo as a central midfielder

Born in Dakar, he won the European Under-19 Championships with Spain in 2015. On 11 August 2015 Diop signed a new five-year deal with the club, running until 2020

The Daily Mail are suggesting we will consider abandoning a bid for Ross barkley if we sign Pape Cheikh Diop, that is complete nonsense. Barkley is wanted at Spurs, this signing would make no difference. Signing Barkley would perhaps allow us to move on Moussa Sissoko, who we can't let go yet with little experienced cover.

Celta Vigo (Vigo, Galicia, Spain) boss Juan Carlos Unzue has been frank to the press after their 3-2 defeat to Real Sociedad.

“It’s true about Pape, it’s there and we can’t silence it. The situation of Pape is what it is. No-one from the club has told me that I can’t count on him, but another thing is that I have to decide if [the speculation] can influence his performance and mental state.”

He has a reported £27.23 million (€30m - AUS$44.53m - US$35.23m) release clause and French Ligue 1 side Lyon are reported to have offered £13.68 million (€15m - AUS$22.26m - US$17.62m) for him by our media.

The Olympique Lyonnais website report that Diop travelled to Lyon last Wednesday for talks and that Lyon would likely make an offer around £9.12 million (€10m - AUS$14.83m - US$11.74m), with other reports suggesting Celta Vigo might accept and offer of £13.68 million .

Which report do you want to believe and thus are the reports that we have been outbid true? They don't look to be when you consider our press can'tbe bothered to convert euros to pounds and thus invariably have prices wrong.

Our initial offer has been speculated at by our press as £10 million (€10.97m - AUS$16.27m - US$12.88m). Catalina based news outlet Per Cadena SER report talks between Spurs and Celta Vigo have also taken place.
